KFR struggles with access to brush fire at Padova City Sunday

KAMLOOPS — Fire crews struggled to gain access to a fire yesterday afternoon at Padova City, the old Tranquille site.

The  fire was reported about 5:00 PM. When crews got there, they found both access gates locked, so they had to call a property representative.

Meanwhile, a train had blocked the road, causing more problems.

Crews had to call in extra resources so they could pack equipment in on foot.

Eventually, they got to the blaze, the result of an unattended campfire that had spread into the grass and  bush.

Crews wound up putting out the hot spots till the wee hours of the morning.

 No indication at this time how much damage there was at the site.
