#Fight4MentalHealth Open Mic raises money for RIH Foundation

KAMLOOPS — If you’re looking for a little entertainment on a Monday night, there’s an open mic event at the Commodore Grand Cafe and Lounge being held for a good cause.

Alex Rolston, Paul Laxton, and Patrick Welch are hosting the event dubbed #Fight4MentalHealth and will feature a number of different amateur entertainers including musicians, poets, comedians, and even magicians.

There will also be a raffle to raise funds for the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, earmarked for mental health programs.

“We’ve been talking about doing a charity event for some time,” organizer Patrick Welch told CFJC Today. “One thing that’s close to all our hearts is mental health. We all know someone who is dealing with someone mentally… what better way to do something than with music and the arts?”
