KAMLOOPS — The season is over for the Kamloops Blazers, but not for two Blazers players.

Forward Connor Zary and goaltender Dylan Garand are among 23 players named to the training camp roster for the Under-18 World Junior Championship.

17-year old Zary is coming off a season of 24 goals and 67 points in 63 games.

He was the Blazers offensive catalyst down the stretch that saw them rally from seven points back with six games left to get into the playoffs.

Zary scored five goals in the final four game of the regular season, another in the tie breaker win against Kelowna and three more in four playoff games against Victoria.

When Dylan Ferguson was injured, Garand took over the net, and went 6-0-1 to help the Blazers into the playoffs.

Garand played for Canada at the Under-17 World Challenge last November.

At 16 he is one of eight under-age players named to the 23 player U-18 team.

Zary and Garand will fly to Finland with the rest of Team Canada next week before going to Sweden for the U-18 World Championship April 18-28.
