KAMLOOPS —It's now official. Former Kamloops Mayor and Kamloops North Thompson MLA Terry Lake has used social media to announce he will seek the Liberal nomination for Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo in this October's Federal Election.

Lake, former B.C. Health and Environment Minister, announced today he will be seeking the nomination.

Lake says it's important that this riding and the province as a whole has a strong voice in government. MP Cathy McLeod has represented the riding for the Conservatives since 2008.

Lake was the Mayor of Kamloops for three years starting in 2005, then went to the Legislature in 2008, where he stayed until 2017, deciding not to run in the provincial election that year.

He is currently the vice-president of corporate social responsibility at cannabis company Hexo Corp.
